Urwa ibn al-Zubayr (r.a.), a renowned scholar and one of the seven jurists of the early Hijri period, built his palace in Wadi Aqeeq (also known as Wadi Mubarika). His aunt, Sayyidah Aisha Siddiqa (r.a.), often visited him there. As a prominent Hadith scholar, Urwah attracted many students. He also dug a well, known as Bír Urwah ibn Zubayr, for the benefit of pilgrims. The ruins of his Masjid still remain, preserving the site as a historic center of Islamic learning.
