Masjid al-Jiranah and BÃr Ji‘rÄnah – الجعرانة بئر Ùˆ الجعرانة مسجد (Mak_017)

Masjid al-Jiranah (الجعرانة مسجد) and Bír Ji‘rÄnah (الجعرانة بئر) are located at the northeastern edge of the sacred sanctuary of Makkah, at a significant Meeqat (boundary point) for the residents of Makkah. After the Battle of Ḥunayn, the Prophet Muhammad â—» ordered the prisoners of war from the HawÄzin tribe and its allies (about 6,000 people) to beheld at Jerana, along with the spoils of war. The Prophet ï·º also stayed at Jerana after the siege of Ta'if for nearly two weeks. During this time, he distributed the spoils of war and, in a pivotal moment, donned the Ihram for Ê¿Umrah at Jerana, performing his Ê¿Umrah there.

During his stay, the Prophet ï·º used the water of the well of Jerana, and the companions also benefited from its water. The well at Jerana, now known as Bír Ji‘rÄnah, remains a symbol of this significant moment in Islamic history, whereboth the physical and spiritual needs of the community were met.
