Masjid al-Sajdah / Abu Dharr al-Ghifari (مسجد السجدة / أبي ذر الغÙاري) (Mad_05)

This sacred site, located north of Masjid al-Nabawi, marks the place where the Prophet Muhammad (ï·º) offered two rak‘ahs and made a lengthy prostration of gratitude after Jibreel (عليه السلام) conveyed the glad tidings: “Whoever sends blessings upon me once, Allah sends blessings upon him ten times.” It was here that Allah bestowed the gift of salawat upon this Ummah. In honor of this moment, a masjid was established by the Companions and later rebuilt by Umar ibn Abdul Aziz (r.a) during his governorship of Madinah.
